Where it all Began
Several years ago we decided to start reading a missionary biography in the evenings with our kids. This initiated lots of good conversations. We started praying that God would lead us to an opportunity to serve others with our kids. Initially, we looked for ways to serve around our community. Our kids did lemonade stands for local organizations, they helped serve alongside us in the college group and other local church functions. We wanted our kids to learn how to serve in tangible ways.
In May of last year we were contacted by a missionary friend who was visiting a supporting church in Idaho. They invited us to come hear about their work in Brazil and the new ministries God had been opening doors with in their area. We gladly said yes! This was an opportunity not only for us, but for our kids to hear first hand from a missionary. While there, they told us about a new class they would be starting in July 2019, teaching English with a Bible curriculum. They also shared their vision to offer this same class to families with kids in July of 2020. Then they asked us, would you be willing to come with your family and teach a VBS to the kids during that time?
WOW! We were humbled and excited, but said that we would be praying over this opportunity and we would keep in touch. This is the opportunity we had prayed for, but now that it was here, all the details seemed daunting. God knew we needed an opportunity that would stretch our faith.
